Cincinnati Man Sets Fire to Home During SWAT Standoff
The Hamilton County Coroner has identified the man who died after a fire and a SWAT situation in East Westwood.
Dossie Washington, 64, was found dead in the home after the blaze was extinguished, officials said.
Cincinnati police officers said they were called to the home on Harkness Avenue around 5 p.m. in connection with a man with a warrant inside a home.
Shortly after, a fire started at the home, police said.
Crews battled the large fire from a street above the home because they did not want to get too close
It is unclear if the person died before or after the fire occurred.
Court records show Washington had an open warrant for public indecency related to an incident in May in which he was allegedly seen urinating in his front yard. He also faced charges for obstruction of official business and resisting arrest.
Police have not said if the warrant they were attempting to address on June 16 was related to these charges.
Police are still investigating. This story will be updated.
