SENECA COUNTY | In a heartwarming gesture of community appreciation, the Christmas Angels group surprised members of the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office Community Corrections Work Crew and GED Program with last-minute holiday gifts this Christmas season.

Deputy Greg Smith, Work Crew Coordinator, and GED Coordinator Grace Moorehart received the thoughtful presents on behalf of the participants, recognizing their hard work throughout the community and personal efforts toward self-improvement.

Now in its 11th year, Christmas Angels has adopted at least 40 local families this season, shopping, wrapping, and personally delivering gifts from Santa and more. Founded on the principle of helping hardworking families facing unexpected challenges—often nominated by others—the group focuses on those who rarely ask for assistance.

Amy Recker of Christmas Angels shared: “Our purpose is spreading Christmas Hope, Joy, and Love! We hope your Work Crew and GED members feel that!!”

The recipients certainly did—smiles were everywhere, with participants expressing deep gratitude for the recognition and gifts. Many wanted to pass along their heartfelt thanks for being remembered during the holidays.

The Work Crew operates from April to October on projects across the county, townships, villages, and cities, shifting to indoor tasks at the jail and county buildings during winter. Meanwhile, the growing GED Program, guided by Moorehart and dedicated teachers, helps participants build brighter futures.

Sheriff Fred Stevens praised the gesture, highlighting how such acts uplift those working to give back and better themselves.

This surprise delivery embodies the true spirit of the season—kindness, gratitude, and community coming together. Merry Christmas from all involved! 🎄
