Deadly Cash in Ballville Township West of Fremont

BALLVILLE, Ohio — A Fremont man is dead after a crash in Sandusky County on Saturday morning.

The crash occurred on County Road 41 (Buckland Avenue) and State Route 53 west of Fremont in Ballville Township just before noon.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, 85-year-old Richard Berger, of Fremont, was driving west on Buckland Avenue around 11:30 a.m. when he failed to yield while trying to cross State Route 53.

Mr. Berger’s vehicle was struck by a pickup truck heading south on SR53.

Berger was taken to the hospital in Fremont where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the other vehicle, a 38-year-old Sandusky man, was treated at the scene.
