Fostoria Beekeeper Says Bees Were Highly Active Dec. 28th: 62 Degrees to 20 Overnight!

FOSTORIA, The Mindful Beekeeper LLC | Sunday December 28th, 2025 hit temperatures in the low sixties which fell to 20 degrees overnight as a cold front and high wind moved in.  On Sunday, owner Josh Tolento spend the last precious couple of hours with his hives before deep winter set in.

“This weather is highly unusual, 2 years ago temps were much lower this time of year”

During the winter months honeybees form a tightly packed cluster inside their hive. They work together generating heat to keep the queen alive and colony in order.

“Being able to spend a couple hours with the bees was a nice surprise before cold temps set in”
