Tragedy at Genoa Quarry: 16-Year-Old Drowns, Diver Injured
GENOA, Ohio — June 25, 2025 — A 16-year-old boy lost his life in a tragic drowning incident at the Genoa Quarry on Wednesday afternoon, leaving the local community in mourning. Authorities recovered the teenager’s body approximately an hour and a half after he was reported missing in the water, according to the Allen-Clay Joint Fire District. A diver from the Jerusalem Township dive team was also injured during the recovery operation and was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.
