BREAKING | Fostoria Authorities Seize Suspected Fentanyl in Fostoria; Local Man Facing Felony Drug Charges
FOSTORIA — A Fostoria man could face multiple felony charges after law enforcement officers discovered a large quantity of suspected fentanyl during a drug search conducted Thursday.
Members of the Seneca County Drug Task Force – METRICH Enforcement Unit, assisted by the Fostoria Police Department, executed a search warrant on February 12 at a residence in the 1100 block of North Main Street. The home is registered to 34-year-old Matthew Bernal, according to officials.
The search warrant, signed by Fostoria Municipal Court Judge Rhonda Best, led to the seizure of various criminal tools and what investigators described as a substantial amount of suspected fentanyl.
Task force investigators said Bernal is expected to be charged with multiple first-degree felony counts of aggravated drug trafficking involving fentanyl once the case file is completed.
“The Fostoria Police Department and the Seneca County Drug Task Force remain dedicated to enforcing drug laws and protecting our community, despite the number of cases currently under investigation,” said Fostoria Police Chief Gabe Wedge in a statement.
Authorities are continuing their investigation and urge residents to report suspicious or drug-related activity to local law enforcement or the Seneca County Drug Task Force METRICH Unit Crime Hotline at 419-443-0463, extension 1140.
