Findlay police arrested a 52-year-old man early Saturday after a tense seven-hour standoff that began with a domestic violence call on Laquineo Street, according to authorities. Officers were dispatched at 6:02 p.m. Feb. 20 to a residence in the 150 block of Laquineo Street Friday for a reported domestic incident when the suspect, identified as Michael Thompson, allegedly pulled a handgun and pointed it at them during questioning, prompting officers to retreat and surround the home while getting the victim to safety.
Negotiators with the department’s Crisis Management Team tried for hours to persuade Thompson to surrender, but police say he refused to communicate or come out. Around 1 a.m., after obtaining a warrant, tactical officers and K9 Deke entered the residence and used force to detain Thompson. He was treated for injuries at a local hospital, then booked into the Hancock County jail on charges of domestic violence and intimidation of a public servant; police said the domestic violence victim was not seriously hurt.
