Brock Crace named first winner of Hardin Community School’s new inspiration contest

Hardin Community School in Kenton has named Brock Crace the first winner of its new inspiration contest, a program launched this year by School Resource Officer Deputy Donnie Deckling.

Every couple of weeks, Deputy Deckling has a custom canvas print made with an inspirational quote and a short life lesson. Students are asked to write, in their own words, what the lesson means to them and how it applies to their lives. Deputy Deckling then reads the submissions alongside two teachers and selects a winner. The student takes the canvas print home to keep.

School officials called the program a strong addition to the year and a practical way to build connections between students and the new school resource officer. Deputy Deckling is in his first year in the role.

The contest is open to students at Hardin Community School, 400 Decatur Street in Kenton. The next canvas challenge is expected in the coming weeks.
