FOSTORIA- An established brewery and restaurant in the Fostoria area is up for sale under the code name “Project Oasis,” according to a listing posted Monday by Develop Seneca County, the economic development division of the Seneca County Collaborative.
The official Project Oasis listing describes the opportunity as “Brewery. Restaurant. Room to grow.” It does not name the business. The listing says “the underlying business name is not included” in the sale, and that limited rights to use location-specific branding may be negotiated separately with the seller.
Is it The UrbanWoody Brewery?
The listing does not say which business is for sale, and as of Monday night neither The UrbanWoody Brewery nor the Seneca County Collaborative had publicly confirmed that the downtown Fostoria brewery is Project Oasis.
Some details in the listing line up with what is publicly known about The UrbanWoody Brewery at 105 E. Tiffin St. The listing says the business “currently operates three days per week with limited hours,” and the brewery’s own website lists hours of Thursday and Friday, 5 to 10 p.m., and Saturday, 3 to 10 p.m. The listing also describes outdoor green space with a stage, and Destination Seneca County, another division of the Collaborative, has written that UrbanWoody added a stage in the green space across the street from the brewery for concerts and events.
Those similarities are not confirmation. The Fostoria Free Press will update this story if the brewery or the Collaborative comments. As of Monday, the brewery’s website still listed its regular hours.
What is for sale
According to the listing, the sale includes:
- A complete brewing operation: brewing equipment, fermenters, kegs and operating assets.
- Commercial kitchen equipment, dining furnishings and taproom furnishings.
- Associated outdoor property, which is “expected to be included,” with green space, a stage, restrooms and parking.
The brewery premises themselves are leased, the listing says. Final outdoor acreage, parcel boundaries and lease terms will be provided during due diligence.
The listing says the business “draws customers from throughout the region, including brewery-trail visitors.” It lists possible growth opportunities for a new owner, including more days and hours, lunch service, increased production, more events and expanded marketing.
Why the owners are selling
“The owners are pursuing a transition because of retirement plans and competing time commitments,” the listing says. The sellers will provide transition assistance and training related to brewing, equipment and restaurant operations, and the listing says transaction timing is flexible.
Price, financing and the liquor license
No asking price is posted. Pricing “is available to serious buyers through the pre-qualification process and is subject to final terms and negotiation,” according to the listing. Buyer financing is expected, and seller financing “may be considered case by case for a qualified purchaser.”
The listing says “liquor license transfer is subject to confirmation and approval.” In Ohio, liquor permits cannot be bought or sold on their own. A permit holder who sells a business can apply to transfer the permit to the new operator as part of that sale, and the transfer must be approved by the state, according to the Ohio Division of Liquor Control. Buyers may be asked for financial verification, background forms, purchase agreements and proof of tenancy.
Deadline and how to inquire
The listing was posted Oct. 26, 2026, and closes Dec. 26, 2026. It will close earlier if the seller reaches an agreement with a buyer.
Interested buyers are asked to email Bryce Riggs, president and CEO of the Seneca County Collaborative, at [email protected] to begin pre-qualification. After pre-qualification, a prospective buyer’s information is passed to the sellers. The parties then review financial capacity, operating experience, property and lease terms, assets and licensing before moving forward on mutually agreed terms.
The Seneca County Collaborative was formed in 2025 and brings together Seneca Regional Chamber & Development (also called Develop Seneca County), Downtown Tiffin and Destination Seneca County. The Advertiser-Tribune, which also reported the listing Monday, said Project Oasis is offered through the Collaborative’s Tiffin-Seneca Entrepreneurial Opportunity Clearinghouse. Develop Seneca County describes the Clearinghouse as a free service that connects business owners with buyers and successors, and sellers can list anonymously. Earlier Clearinghouse listings have included a Fostoria-area entertainment venue and bar, “Project Nimitz,” in 2025.
