FOSTORIA- The City of Fostoria’s 2026 Leaf Collection Schedule, posted Oct. 22, says leaf collection begins Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2026. Here is how it works.
The bag rule
The city says leaves will be collected only when they are placed at the curb in biodegradable bags. Paper leaf bags are sold at Kroger, hardware stores and big-box stores. The city says plastic bags, or bags with trash mixed in, will not be accepted.
Pickup zones and days
- Zone 1 – Monday: The west side of Countyline Street and everything west to the city limits, between Findlay Street on the south and Stearns Road on the north.
- Zone 2 – Tuesday: The east side of Countyline Street east to the C and O Railroad, from the city limits on the north to South Street on the south. The north side of South Street is included.
- Zone 3 – Wednesday: East of the C and O Railroad to the city limits, from the north city limits down to the south set of railroad tracks on Columbus Avenue.
- Zone 4 – Thursday: Everything south of South Street to the city limits.
If you are not sure which zone you are in, or your street sits on a boundary, call the Street Department.
Taking yard waste yourself
The city says the Fostoria Compost Facility, 1240 S. Union St., is open for yard waste dumping only. The city notes the site is monitored by cameras and says action will be taken for unauthorized dumping, so do not leave trash, furniture or construction debris there.
The Street Department page also lists the city’s Brush Drop-Off and Mulch Center at Foundation Park.
When does it end?
The schedule does not list an end date. For the last pickup week, or for any question about your street, contact the Fostoria Street Department at 419-435-4115 or [email protected].
Fall cleanup tips
- Do not rake leaves into the street or storm drains. Bag them.
- Set bags out by your zone’s day, and keep them clear of mailboxes, hydrants and parked cars.
- Gardeners can also compost leaves at home. Ohio State University Extension lists composting leaves as an October garden chore.
Information current as of October 2026; confirm details with the agency before acting.
