SENECA COUNTY- Ohio’s general election is Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2026. Whether you live in Fostoria, Tiffin or a township, the same few steps apply: make sure you are registered at your current address, find out where you vote, and bring the right ID. Here is how to do each one.
Who can register
The Ohio Secretary of State says you can register if you are a U.S. citizen who will be at least 18 years old on or before the day of the general election. You register at the address where you live, and you need to update your registration when you move or change your name. Registration and updates can be done through the Secretary of State’s Register to Vote and Update Your Registration page, by paper form, or in person at the county board of elections.
The 30-day rule
Under Ohio Revised Code 3503.01, a person must be registered for 30 days before an election to vote in it. That means the registration window for the Nov. 3 election has already closed. If you are not registered, or you moved and did not update, register now so you are ready for the next election. State law (ORC 3503.19) generally gives the board 20 business days to process an application, with different handling for applications that arrive within 30 days of an election.
Check your registration and find your polling place
The Secretary of State’s Voter Search tool lets you check your registration and find your voting precinct and polling location. If the tool cannot find you but you believe you are registered, the state recommends searching again with your information typed exactly, and contacting your county board of elections. The state notes that a voter who cannot be found may still be able to cast a provisional ballot.
On Election Day, the Secretary of State says polls are open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., and you vote at the polling place for your precinct.
