Another Drug Trafficker Arrested by METRICH and Off The Streets of #Fostoria

FOSTORIA- A Fostoria man was arrested on October 13 after authorities executed a search warrant at 430 N. Wood St., ending a seven-year investigation by the Seneca County Drug Task Force-METRICH Enforcement Unit. The warrant, authorized by Common Pleas Judge Damon Alt and carried out with help from the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office, Tiffin Police Department, and Fostoria Police Department, targeted the residence of Shaquiel Lamont Taylor.

Investigators seized suspected narcotics, cash, and items linked to drug trafficking.
Taylor was taken into custody on a first-degree felony drug trafficking complaint and booked into the Seneca County Jail. Officials said more charges—including trafficking, possession, and child endangerment—may be filed against him and others once the investigation is complete.

Fostoria Police Chief Gabe Wedge highlighted the value of multi-agency work and public tips, stating that the department and task force will continue aggressive enforcement of drug trafficking cases and that every community tip is reviewed.
Residents are urged to report suspicious activity to local police or the METRICH crime hotline at 419-443-0463, ext. 1140. The case remains open, and all charges are allegations; the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.

Public Safety Notice: Ice Conditions on City of Fostoria Reservoirs

The City of Fostoria is reminding residents to stay off frozen reservoirs as temperatures fluctuate this winter. Even when ice appears thick and solid, changes in air temperature, wind, and water movement can create hidden weak spots that are impossible to see from the surface. Unlike a small pond, a reservoir often has varying depths and currents that prevent uniform ice formation, meaning one step can be safe and the next can send you crashing through into frigid water.

Falling through reservoir ice is especially dangerous because you can be pulled under by the powerful suction of intake pipes and underwater flows. Openings near dams, spillways, or intake structures can create strong currents beneath the ice, dragging a person away from the hole they fell through and making rescue far more difficult. Anyone near reservoirs is urged to admire them from the shoreline, keep children and pets off the ice, and call 911 immediately if they see someone in distress.

FOSTORIA | Truck Falls Through Ice in a Pond at Moiser Wetlands

FOSTORIA | At Aprox 1:30am 12/31/25 Fostoria Police received a call from a man in a truck with its back tires stuck in a pond. What used to be Moiser Lake, now Moiser Wetlands according to the FFP, excavators have been digging small ponds as part of the project. It took several minutes and multiple officers to located the vehicle. The man was uninjured and given a ride by FPD.

According to police scanner traffic “There’s a pile of brandy here”  “We have to make sure this guy is alive”.

This situation shines light the importance holiday drinking & depression awareness. For many, the Holidays are happy times, but for some, it can be hard to handle. Be there for one another.

FOSTORIA | This past Saturday, Officers from the Fostoria Police Department, teachers from the Fostoria City Schools, along with Trooper Rey Zavala of the Ohio State Patrol, Norwalk Post, had a great time with these amazing kiddos during Christmas with a Cop.

The kids were able to purchase gifts for themselves and their family members, while also receiving new coats, hats, gloves, and boots!

Thank you Fostoria FOP and all of the other local donors… without you, this wouldn’t be possible!

FOSTORIA| A Local #Fostoria Citizen took matters into her own hands Sunday morning by making homemade chalk paint for large speed limit signs. Vine Street is well know for excessive speeding. This promoted the city to install a speed monitoring device on N Vine St.. Reports & Data is included below.

BREAKING: Fostoria Mazada Direct GM & Finance Manager Fired as Police Standby

FOSTORIA | On June 30th, 2025 Fostoria Police were on standby while two Mazada Direct employees were terminated. A witness reported seeing the General Manager Mike Hall carrying his belongings along with the Finance Manager Dallas Oliver.  The request for law enforcement was partly justified by one employee in possession of a firearm. No additional information is available at this time.

 

 

Fostoria Police Officers Likely Saved a Life on Center St. CSX Bridge

FOSTORIA – On February 25, 2025, at around 9:53 a.m., the Fostoria Police Department responded to a report of a man standing on the outside of the railing on the E. Center St. train overpass, threatening to jump. Officers arrived, blocked traffic, and coordinated with CSX to halt trains while Fostoria EMS was called. After 15 minutes of de-escalation, the man reluctantly returned to the inside of the railing but then tried to climb back out. Officers restrained him as he resisted, ensuring his safety, and transported him to Fostoria ProMedica Hospital for evaluation. Police Chief Gabe Wedge praised the officers—Don Dennis, Brady Jaso, Kent Reinbolt, Dan Dell, and Nate Elliott—for their Crisis Intervention Training and life-saving efforts.

At approximately 0953 hrs, the Fostoria Police Department received a call of a subject on the E. Center St train overpass, standing on the outside of the railing. When responding officers arrived on scene, the male subject began threatening to jump from the overpass. Officers blocked traffic and relayed with CSX to stop any incoming trains. Fostoria EMS was also called to the scene. After approximately 15 minutes of de-escalating the situation and calming the subject down, the subject reluctantly came back to the inside of the railing. However, he then changed his mind and attempted to climb to the outside of the railing again, but officers were able to pull him back away from doing so.

The subject then began fighting the officers; however, officers were able to restrain the subject and secure his movements. The subject was then taken to Fostoria ProMedica Hospital to be evaluated.“This is just another example of how Crisis Intervention Training (CIT) is paying off in the City of Fostoria and across the nation. Officers are entering the situation in a safe but more passive manner, to de-escalate the situations by speaking to the subject first, slowing things down, instead of going straight to hands on.”
