HANCOCK COUNTY – A 29-year-old man is being held on suspicion of aggravated vehicular assault after a late-night rollover crash in rural Hancock County left four passengers hurt, including three juveniles.
The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office said in a media release that the crash happened shortly before midnight on Friday, Oct. 30, in the area of 8359 Township Road 242. According to the sheriff’s office, the driver was operating a Kia Soul through a field when the vehicle struck a ditch and overturned.
Three juvenile passengers suffered serious injuries that were not considered life-threatening, the sheriff’s office said. A fourth passenger, an 18-year-old, was flown by medical helicopter to St. Vincent Hospital in Toledo with serious injuries. The driver was later located and taken into custody, according to the sheriff’s office. Hancock County jail booking information lists him as Marshall Patterson, 29, booked into the Hancock County Justice Center on Oct. 31 by the sheriff’s office on a third-degree felony count of aggravated vehicular assault.
As of Wednesday, Nov. 4, no court filing or arraignment in the case could be located online. Patterson is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
The crash remains under investigation by the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office. Anyone with information about the crash is asked to contact the sheriff’s office in Findlay.
