FOSTORIA – A downtown building holding three storefronts at 121-125 E. Tiffin St. has changed hands, and the new owner plans renovations, according to the real estate broker who handled the listing.
Kristy Persohn, a broker with American Heritage Realty, announced the closing in a Facebook post Oct. 30, congratulating “The David Society” on the purchase. Persohn wrote that renovations are next and that the community will be “VERY happy with what’s coming next.” The post’s graphic read “CLOSING Today 121-125 E. Tiffin.”
The listing page on the Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices site shows the property, listed as 121-127 E. Tiffin St., as sold for $220,000 on Oct. 30, 2026. The Free Press has not yet confirmed the price through Seneca County property transfer records. The property was listed July 6 at $259,400 under MLS No. 10010128, according to the listing.
The listing describes a mixed-use building of about 11,760 square feet on a 0.2-acre, 65-by-132-foot lot, with a rear garage. Of the three storefronts, 125-127 was formerly a barber shop leased at $1,500 a month, 123 was used for storage and 121 was pitched as a possible bar or restaurant space, the listing says. It also suggests the upper floors could be converted to apartments. The listing gives a construction date of 1920, while property-data websites list 1890 for the 121 and 123 addresses.
Who is behind The David Society was not immediately clear. One commenter on Persohn’s post asked exactly that. A Free Press search of online sources found no public information connecting an organization by that name to Fostoria. The buyer has not publicly detailed its plans for the building, and the Free Press is seeking more information.
The block has a long commercial history. According to a “then and now” feature from the Fostoria Area Historical Society, 123 E. Tiffin housed the Unique Theatre, a silent-movie house, in 1915. Next door, 121 was home to the Ohio State Telephone Co. in 1915, Commercial Press in 1930 and Fostoria Sheet Metal in 1950, while 125 held a fruit and vegetable seller in 1915, a Kroger store in 1930 and Spieldenner floor coverings in 1950.
Persohn’s post drew more than 100 reactions and 10 shares as of the Free Press’ review.
