TOLEDO, Ohio — A 23-year-old man was killed early Thursday, Nov. 5, after a two-vehicle crash on South Byrne Road in south Toledo sent his SUV into a tree and the front porch of a home, Toledo police said.
Police identified the driver as Oscar Macuixtle, 23. The crash happened about 1:15 a.m. on Byrne Road between Stengel Avenue and Copland Boulevard, near the railroad tracks, according to accounts from WTOL 11 and 13abc that cited Toledo police.
Police said Macuixtle was driving a Toyota SUV when it collided with a Jeep driven by a 27-year-old woman who had just turned onto Byrne Road from a side street. The impact sent the SUV off the road. It struck a tree, overturned and hit the front porch of a home, police said. Macuixtle, the only person in his vehicle, died at the scene.
Emergency crews checked the Jeep driver at the scene. She sustained minor injuries and did not go to the hospital, according to the police account reported by WTOL 11 and 13abc. Police said the crash did not cause structural damage to the home, and no one inside was reported hurt.
Byrne Road was closed during the investigation, with early reports describing a closure between Detroit Avenue and Heatherdowns Boulevard, and has since reopened. The crash remains under investigation.
Anyone with information can contact the Toledo Police Department.
The Fostoria Free Press extends its condolences to Macuixtle’s family and friends. This is a developing story and will be updated if police release more information.
