TOLEDO — An 18-year-old Toledo man has been indicted on an aggravated murder charge in the July 2025 shooting death of a 17-year-old boy in south Toledo, according to WTOL 11.
A Lucas County grand jury indicted Jose Flores on Tuesday, Oct. 20, on one count of aggravated murder with five firearm specifications attached, WTOL reported. His next court date had not been released.
Case background
Flores was arrested as a juvenile in July 2025 along with two other suspects, who were 13 and 14 at the time, according to WTOL. FFP is not naming the other two suspects because they are minors.
The arrests came days after the teen and another victim were found shot in the 400 block of Baden Street at South Avenue. According to police documents cited by WTOL, the teen and a female passenger were sitting in a car waiting to buy a gun. Prosecutors say that instead of completing the sale, the group of teenagers opened fire, killing the teen and wounding his passenger, then robbed the car before running off.
The county coroner ruled the teen’s death a homicide. WTOL reported that each suspect’s alleged role in the shooting has not been made public.
All of the suspects, including Flores, were on probation at the time of the shooting, according to the Lucas County Prosecutor’s Office.
What happens next
An indictment means a grand jury found enough evidence for the case to go forward. It is not a finding of guilt. The case is being handled by the Lucas County Prosecutor’s Office.
Jose Flores is charged, not convicted. All charges are allegations, and he is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
