SENECA CO. | Local Beekeeper Rolls 2026 Coffee-Infused Honey Off the Line
![]()
SENECA COUNTY, OH- A Tri-county area beekeeper has rolled the first production batch of his 2026 coffee-infused honey off the line. Tolento Coffee Roasters & Infused Honey announced the release on its Facebook page this week: “First Production Batch of 2026! Sierra Chocolate Surge, Coffee Infused Honey.” The brand belongs to The Mindful Beekeeper LLC, the live honeybee removal and relocation company owned by Joshua Tolento.
Sierra Chocolate Surge is the only coffee-infused honey flavor listed on the brand’s website, Cafe Tolento. The company describes it as honey infused with “medium roast specialty grade coffee with rich flavors of fudge and dark chocolate.” The listing pitches it with the line “No Time For Morning Coffee SOLVED!” and suggests stirring it into lattes or coffee, drizzling it over desserts or ice cream, or using it as a glaze for ribs.
From hive to jar
The honey comes only from The Mindful Beekeeper’s own hives, which it says sit in Seneca County apiaries and “face East along organically farmed land.” The coffee is fair-trade green coffee from the Sierra Azul Cafe Gourmet farm in Mexico. The company roasts the beans in-house to a medium roast, then infuses them into small batches of honey “for days.” It calls the process a proprietary “zero waste, cold infusion” method with “no shortcuts, no additives.” Spent coffee grounds are used for flower fertilizer to support local pollinators.
The business is “owned and led by Joshua Tolento, a seasoned beekeeper and home coffee roaster.” Tolento’s beekeeping work centers on rescuing honeybee colonies rather than destroying them. “I practice a grounded and mindful approach while working with bees. Calmness reduces the stress on the colony during the removal & relocation,” he says on the company’s About page. The company’s motto is “Sustainability from rescue to harvest.”
Anyone in Ohio who keeps honeybees, hobbyist or commercial, has to register each apiary every year with the Ohio Department of Agriculture’s Apiary Program, as Ohio Revised Code 909.02 requires.
Where to buy
Customers can order through the shop at cafetolento.com. Pickup is also available at the roastery/honey farm, which is open by appointment only. The company says it is not a walk-in cafe but plans to open a tasting room in the future. Coffee Infused Honey will also be available on store shelves somewhere in Findlay this year. Details to be announced soon!
