Greg Leroy Dieter, 71, of Fostoria, passed away peacefully on Thursday morning, January 15, 2026 at Bridge Hospice Care Center in Findlay.

He was born October 23, 1954 in Fostoria to James Leroy and Joyce Adelaide (Brown) Dieter.

Greg was a 1972 Fostoria High School graduate. He was a member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church in Fostoria as well as numerous local organizations to include: The Knights of Columbus, The Fostoria Historical Society, The Pemberville Historical Society, Fostoria Arts Council and was a Life Member of Fostoria Glass Heritage Gallery.

Greg had the “Dieter Disease” of collecting antiques and the thrill of the hunt. He loved attending auctions, flea markets, garage sales and curb finds.

Giving him the most enjoyment in life was family closeness and spending time with his nieces and nephews. In his earlier years he enjoyed fishing and being at the lake and flower gardening. He also liked playing cards at the Senior Center where he was the former Director. Greg wore many hats throughout his lifetime including working at the Fostoria Foundry, the Chrysler Stamping Plant in Twinsburg, and New Riegel Meat. He managed Riverbank Antiques in Pemberville for eight years, tended bar at The Village Inn in Alvada and Slammers in Fostoria. He also did painting and wallpapering.

Surviving Greg are his sisters, Ardella Babb (the late Tom), of Fostoria, Denise (Steve) Brown, of Fostoria, and Lindy (Kirk) Eynon, of Bowling Green; 12 nieces and nephews: Jason (Melissa), Janelle (Mike), Jeannine (Jason), Nicole (Noel), J. (Kelly), Kate (Kathy), Ashley (Johnny), Eric (Kelsye), Sean (Ashleigh), Eli (Kristina), Tess (Mike), and Tad (Raven); and great-nieces and nephews: Claire, Mallory, Macy, Evie, Meghan, Grant, Olivia, Henry, Waylon, Charlotte, Taylor, Owen, Mallory, Evan, Colt, Wyatt, Kimber, Caroline, Franklin, Zelda and Baby Girl Dotson. Also surviving Greg are Uncle Larry and Aunt Dawn Brown, Aunt Patricia Brown, and Aunt Sue Dieter along with many cousins both nearby and far away. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother James W. Dieter.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 21, 2026 from 2:00 – 6:00 p.m. at Mann-Hare-Hoening Funeral Home, 407 N. Countyline St., Fostoria, Ohio, with a vigil beginning at 5:30 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, January 22, 2026 at St. Wendelin Catholic Church. There will be a luncheon held in the parish hall following the funeral mass.
