OTTAWA — An Ottawa man is charged with raping a child and is scheduled to be arraigned next week in Putnam County Common Pleas Court, The Lima News reported Wednesday, Oct. 21.
A Putnam County grand jury indicted James Tyree II, 45, on Oct. 15 on one charge of rape, a first-degree felony, and one charge of assault, a fifth-degree felony. The alleged victim was under the age of 13, according to jail records cited by the newspaper.
Tyree is scheduled to be arraigned at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 26, in Putnam County Common Pleas Court. A jury trial has been set for Nov. 16, the newspaper reported.
FFP is not publishing any information that could identify the child.
An indictment is a formal accusation, not a finding of guilt. All charges are allegations; Tyree is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
