Portage County Sheriff's Office ignores public records request, lawsuit possible.

PORTAGE COUNTY – A Pre-litigation notice has been emailed to Portage County Sheriff’s Office for ignoring a public records request followup, and not delivering records in a timely manner.
The Sheriff’s office has 3 days to respond to the complaint or petition will be filed in the Ohio Supreme Court. If the complaint is responded to, PCSO has until Oct 30th, 2026 to fulfill to avoid an original action lawsuit requesting a writ of mandamus. This legal route forces a government agency to comply or face criminal charges. Below is the notice that was filed today October 4th, 2026.
