FOSTORIA – It’s Parade Day in Fostoria. The City of Fostoria Halloween Parade steps off at 5 p.m. today, Sunday, Oct. 25, in downtown Fostoria, with a costume contest to follow, the city said in a Facebook post this morning.

“With beautiful weather in the forecast, it’s the perfect day to get out, enjoy the festivities, and celebrate our community,” the city wrote. “We hope to see you there!”

Parade and costume contest

The parade travels down Main Street from near Marco’s Pizza to Dell’s on South Street, according to the city’s parade registration page. Parade units begin lining up at about 4 p.m. The city’s calendar lists the event from 5 to 6:30 p.m.

Right after the parade, the costume contest takes place outside the Police Department at the corner of Tiffin and Main streets, the city said.

The city calls the Halloween Parade and Costume Contest one of downtown Fostoria’s most beloved traditions. Local organizations, businesses, marching bands, community groups, floats, vehicles and emergency services were all invited to sign up for this year’s lineup. Entry registration closed Oct. 16.

There is no spectator fee listed for the parade. Families can find a spot along Main Street to watch.

Before you go

On-street parking on Main Street, from North Street to South Street, is prohibited starting at 3 p.m. today, the city said.

More Halloween fun ahead

Citywide trick-or-treat in Fostoria is Saturday, Oct. 31, from 5:30 to 7 p.m., according to the city calendar.

Event details and city news are posted on the City of Fostoria calendar and the City of Fostoria Facebook page.
