FOSTORIA – Trick-or-treaters in Fostoria and across Northwest Ohio are looking at a mild, mostly dry evening, with the National Weather Service forecasting a high near 73 on Saturday, Oct. 31, and rain holding off until after midnight.
The forecast is still six days out, so details can change. Here is what forecasters said as of Sunday afternoon, Oct. 25.
What the National Weather Service says
The NWS forecast for Fostoria, updated at 4:01 p.m. Sunday, calls for a partly sunny Saturday with a high near 73. The hourly forecast shows mostly cloudy skies during trick-or-treat hours, with temperatures falling from about 71 degrees at 6 p.m. to the upper 60s by 7 p.m. Winds should be light, around 8 mph, and the chance of rain is about 13 percent.
The chance of showers rises after 1 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 1, when NWS puts rain at 30 percent. Showers are likely Sunday, at about 61 percent. Overnight lows Saturday night are forecast near 58.
The NWS Cleveland office, which covers Seneca, Hancock and Wood counties, wrote in its 2:59 p.m. forecast discussion that a warming trend from Wednesday into the weekend could push temperatures about 10 degrees above normal at times. Dry weather should last until a possible cold front late Saturday into Sunday. Forecasters said the timing of that rain still depends on how two separate weather systems line up.
The rest of the week looks dry and mild in Fostoria, with highs near 72 Monday, 69 Tuesday, 73 Wednesday, 77 Thursday and 76 Friday. The latest forecast and discussion are on the National Weather Service Cleveland website.
What 13 ABC says
13 ABC’s First Alert forecast on Sunday also called for highs in the 70s most of the week, a slightly cooler Tuesday in the mid 60s and a small chance of a few showers Thursday evening. The station said it looks mainly dry through Halloween, with rain chances increasing Sunday. The NWS forecast keeps any Thursday night showers mainly in far northeast Ohio and northwest Pennsylvania, with only about a 5 percent chance in Fostoria.
Trick-or-treat hours
Fostoria’s trick-or-treat is Saturday, Oct. 31, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Times for other area towns are listed in the Free Press roundup of 2026 trick-or-treat times.
Because a forecast this far out can shift, families should check again Thursday or Friday before making final plans.
Safety reminders
- Sunset is around 6:30 p.m., so most of trick-or-treat will be in the dark. Add reflective tape to costumes and bags.
- Carry a flashlight or glow stick, and pick face paint over masks that block vision.
- Choose costumes short enough to avoid tripping, and stay on sidewalks.
- Drivers should slow down in neighborhoods, watch for kids darting between parked cars and avoid distractions.
