TOLEDO | Michael Taylor Sr., 61, Held on $200,000 Bail in Rape and Strangulation Case

TOLEDO — A 61-year-old Toledo man charged with rape and strangulation after a west Toledo assault report appeared in court Monday, where a judge set bail at $200,000, 13abc reported.

Michael Taylor Sr. is accused in an Oct. 16 incident. The woman who reported the assault told police that Taylor punched and strangled her several times, leaving visible bruises and swelling, and that he also raped her, according to 13abc and earlier WTOL 11 reporting based on Toledo police records.

WTOL reported that Taylor forced the woman to undress and forced sexual contact, and that police wrote she had bruising, swelling and throat pain. The woman was the source of the information in the report, and police wrote that Taylor was identified by the victim and through police resources, WTOL said.

Taylor was arrested and booked into the Lucas County Jail the same day the report was made. Lucas County booking records list charges of rape by compelling submission by force or threat of force and strangulation, both filed in Toledo Municipal Court.

13abc reported that a preliminary hearing is scheduled for Oct. 26.
