UPDATE: High Speed Pursuit Suspect: Joshua Rainer Booked & Held With $60,000 Bond

FOSTORIA | A high-speed pursuit that started in Fostoria and ended near Bluffton early Sunday resulted in the arrest of an Ohio man.

Authorities say 31-year-old Joshua Wesley Rainer, of Fairborn, will face a fourth‑degree felony charge of fleeing/eluding (failure to comply) as well as a charge for driving without a valid license. The chase reportedly began near the intersection of Lytle and State streets in Fostoria when a driver refused to stop for officers, then continued through several jurisdictions at speeds exceeding 100 mph before coming to a halt in a field outside Bluffton.

Hancock County sheriff’s deputies and troopers from the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Findlay post joined the pursuit. Fostoria officers also deployed drones and K‑9 units after Rainer allegedly tried to escape on foot at the end of the chase.

A passenger, whose identity is being withheld under Marsy’s Law, was in the vehicle during the pursuit and was later released after evaluation by EMS. Rainer is scheduled to appear in court at 9 a.m. Tuesday.

Rainer was booked into Seneca County Jail on 12/28/25 with a $60,000 cash bond.
