FREMONT Trump Haters Gather to Protest Immigration Enforcement, Not Knowing They Are Advocating For More Crime
A small but vocal crowd turned out in downtown Fremont, Ohio, today to rally against federal immigration enforcement, waving signs that blame border agents rather than the criminals they are tasked with stopping. Branded as a “No ICE” demonstration, the event quickly revealed itself as a protest not just against immigration law, but against the very idea of enforcing it.
Turning on the people who enforce the law
Many of the hand‑painted posters seen at the rally take direct aim at Immigration and Customs Enforcement, with slogans like “Stop ICE” and “Killed by ICE.” Instead of criticizing the cartels, human traffickers, or repeat offenders who prey on both Americans and migrants, these activists target the officers whose job is to arrest them. By demanding that ICE be defunded or abolished, protesters are effectively calling for weaker borders, fewer deportations of dangerous criminals, and more chaos in communities already struggling with drugs, gangs, and human trafficking.
National politics over local safety
The demonstration was also saturated with anti‑Trump and hard‑left political messaging, including signs reading “No Kings,” “Impeach Trump,” and “No Immunity.” Rather than focusing on real policy solutions—such as fixing the asylum system, tightening background checks, or improving coordination between federal and local law enforcement—the rally was framed as yet another stage for Trump‑bashing and general anti‑police sentiment. The energy was less about helping lawful immigrants build a better life and more about scoring points in a never‑ending partisan war.
Ignoring the consequences of open borders
Behind the feel‑good rhetoric, the crowd’s message boils down to this: loosen enforcement and treat illegal entry as if it has no cost. But Americans are living with those costs every day—whether it is fentanyl flowing across the border, overloaded school and health systems, or communities reeling from crimes committed by people who should never have been in the country to begin with. When activists chant against ICE without offering a serious alternative, what they are really demanding is a system where fewer criminals are stopped, fewer deportations happen, and more families pay the price.
Free speech versus responsible speech
Everyone in Fremont has the right to hold a sign, chant a slogan, and criticize the government—that is part of what makes this country worth defending in the first place. But free speech also comes with responsibility. When protesters champion policies that would handcuff law enforcement and weaken the border, they are not standing up for “human rights”; they are helping create conditions where more people become victims of crime, including the very migrants they claim to support.
Inviting the community into the debate
SkyView Media thanks Scott Sours of Fremont for sharing photos and details from the scene so residents can see for themselves what’s being promoted in their name. Now the question goes to the broader community: Do you want safer neighborhoods with clear, enforced immigration laws—or protests that attack the people working to keep the border and your streets under control? Share your thoughts respectfully in the comments and let your neighbors know where you stand on enforcing the law, protecting families, and defending the security of northwest Ohio.
