Fostoria Voters Renew 6-Mill City Levy
Fostoria voters renewed the city’s 6-mill current-expenses levy in the Nov. 3 general election.
In the Seneca County portion of the city, the renewal passed 1,122 votes for, or 55.2 percent, to 911 against, or 44.8 percent, according to unofficial Seneca County results reported by TiffinOhio.net.
Fostoria sits in three counties, so the issue also appeared on ballots in the city’s Hancock County and Wood County precincts. Full three-county totals were not available at press time.
According to the ballot language, the five-year renewal is for the city’s current expenses. The county auditor estimates it will collect $1,047,593 a year, at a cost of $140 for each $100,000 of auditor’s market value. It begins in 2027, with the first collection in 2028. Because it is a renewal, it continues an existing tax rather than raising rates.
Current-expenses money goes into the city’s general operating budget.
Results are unofficial until the Seneca, Hancock and Wood county boards of elections certify their canvasses later this month. The Fostoria Free Press will update this story with combined totals when they are available.
