TIFFIN – Tiffin police searched the South Washington Street area Monday afternoon for a man from out of the county after a Facebook post that dispatchers described as suggesting a mass threat, according to Seneca County dispatch radio traffic.
The search began around 3:20 p.m. Oct. 26. Dispatchers said the man’s location was being tracked by phone and was moving between Glenn Street and Orchard Park along Washington Street. Officers checked bridges in the area. Asked whether the man had any known weapons, a dispatcher answered “negative.”
Within minutes, officers reported they had found the man under a bridge near Crow School on Washington Street and made contact with him. Dispatch traffic later said he had agreed to talk to his counselor and that his father would take him there, with a Tiffin officer following to make sure they arrived safely.
No charges or arrests were mentioned on the radio. The Fostoria Free Press is not naming the man. The Tiffin Police Department had not released any information about the call as of Thursday evening.
