FINDLAY | Marathon Petroleum Adds Former Fluor CEO David Constable to Board

FINDLAY – Marathon Petroleum Corp. has elected David E. Constable, the former chairman and CEO of Fluor Corp., to its board of directors, the Findlay-based refiner announced Thursday, Oct. 29.

Constable’s seat takes effect March 1, 2027, and will bring the company’s board to 11 directors, Marathon said.

Constable led Fluor, the engineering and construction firm, as chairman and CEO. Before that, he was CEO of Sasol Ltd., a global chemical and energy company, from 2011 to 2016, and then spent three years as a senior advisor to Cerberus Capital Management, according to the company. He sits on the board of ABB Ltd. and previously served on the boards of Anadarko Petroleum and Rio Tinto.

“We are fortunate to have David joining as a member of our Board of Directors,” Marathon Chairman, President and CEO Maryann Mannen said in the release, adding that he brings “over four decades of global leadership experience in the energy, chemicals, engineering and construction sectors.”

“David’s record of value creation and successful management in complex industries will be a great complement to the Board,” said Marathon Lead Director John Surma.

Constable holds a civil engineering degree from the University of Alberta and completed executive programs at Thunderbird and the Wharton School, the company said.

Marathon Petroleum, headquartered in Findlay, operates the nation’s largest refining system. The company’s filings, including its report on the board change, are available through the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
